Central Credit Reference Information System (CCRIS)

The information reported to the Credit Bureau is stored in a computerised database system known as the Central Credit Reference Information System (CCRIS).

CCRIS automatically processes the credit-related data received from participating financial institutions and synthesises the information into credit reports, which is made available to the financial institutions and the borrowers, upon request.

Subject to the approval by Bank Negara Malaysia, credit reporting agencies (CRA) registered under the Credit Reporting Agencies Act 2010, can access the credit information of individual borrowers in CCRIS, with prior consent from the borrowers. To date, three CRAs have obtained such approval:

  • Credit Bureau Malaysia Sdn Bhd;
  • CTOS Data Systems Sdn Bhd; and
  • Experian Information Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

Participating financial institutions that are subscribers to these credit reporting agencies may request for credit reports with scores of an applicant or borrower directly from the credit reporting agencies to facilitate their lending decisions.
