Accuracy of Credit Information

It is important for the credit information stored by the Credit Bureau to be credible. The Credit Bureau is dependent on the participating financial institutions to provide correct information in a timely manner. It is the duty of the participating financial institutions to ensure that the credit information of their borrowers is maintained and correctly reported to the Credit Bureau. In the event that there is incorrect information identified by the participating financial institutions or highlighted by the borrowers, the participating financial institutions must rectify the information within a reasonable timeframe by sending the amendments to the Credit Bureau.

 

Bank Negara Malaysia maintains responsibility in ensuring that CCRIS is a secured system and protected against unauthorised access. The security and integrity of the credit information reported by the participating financial institutions is always maintained.

 

As the system administrator, Bank Negara Malaysia does not alter/modify/update the credit information maintained in CCRIS. Any alteration/modification/updating can only be made by the participating financial institutions themselves, except in circumstances which require intervention by Bank Negara Malaysia based on any request by the participating financial institutions or borrowers and supported by the relevant documentary evidence. As the information contained in the credit report has been compiled from a third party and does not represent the opinion of Bank Negara Malaysia as to the creditworthiness of the subject(s), Bank Negara Malaysia cannot assume any liability with respect to the accuracy or completeness of the information. However, Bank Negara Malaysia will assist to resolve any complaint received from borrowers regarding inaccurate credit information maintained in CCRIS.
